American Signal Corporation Receives Contract to Supply an Outdoor Warning System for the City of Springfield, Illinois

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin, July 11th - American Signal Corporation (ASC), a leading manufacturer and distributor of alert and notification products serving military, law enforcement, homeland security and commercial markets, announced today the company has received an order from the City of Springfield, IL to replace and add a state-of-the-art Alert & Notification system. Many recent weather events impelled the City to act quickly to prevent any further risks that could render the city unprepared.

Dale Moeller, President of American Signal Corporation, said, "We are extremely pleased to be involved with such an important project for the city. A team effort was given to this priority project spearheaded by Wireless USA, the communications provider of Motorola radios and equipment." The system initially consists of 57 TempestTM T-128 proven and reliable electromechanical sirens. Electromechanical sirens have no history of motor failure and are an excellent choice for Springfield. In addition, the systems have the state of the art True UPS battery back up system. The sirens can run on AC while trickle charging the batteries. If power fails, the system will automatically change to the DC system and operate on the battery back up. Dale Moeller also stated, "Warning systems are essential to protecting this community. American Signal provides both Electronic and Mechanical sirens but mechanical sirens were clearly the best choice for Springfield. It provides peace of mind for the community that the system will work if there is a power outage. In addition, the siren system is composed of a two-way computer enhanced SCADA system which allows for daily silent polling and monitors proper activation, AC power fail and low battery. When combined with our recently announced awards for Alert & Notification systems being installed in Thailand, St. Martin, PSEG Nuclear and Exelon's nine nuclear facilities throughout Illinois as well as many city and county wide systems throughout the U.S. and Asia, ASC is seeing a goal come true. That goal and mission throughout the ASC corporate structure is to "SAVE LIVES."
